Blog Entry 5 – Great Gable & Pillar

Thank you for everyone who has made comments, they have been really helpful & encouraging. Today we set off with the sun shining & made our way to Wasdale Head – a truly beautiful place. Huge mountains enclose this valley & we managed to reach two of the highest peaks today. The climbs proved more difficult than expected with lots of large rocks & loose scree to deal with both going up & coming down. These areas are not for the faint hearted, every step had to be carefully considered! Over the past few days we have met lots of interesting people from romantic sounding places as far apart as Vancouver Island, Arnold in Nottingham & Doncaster!! A slight change of plan tomorrow Great End which we missed on Saturday because of bad weather & Bowfell. On Wednesday we will complete the challenge with a testing hike up Skiddaw. We plan to add an extra peak on Tuesday or Wednesday to complete the set of 10 peaks. Love Dave & Rowland ps thanks for your prayers, no injuries or blisters just a few grazes & sore feet.

  1. Hope the weather conditions improve for you as you come to the last few peaks. We are all really proud of you as you attempt this selfless challenge on behalf of those who’s lives are so impoverished and who are always so grateful to you and to those who contribute to their cause. Well done so far and be assured of our prayers for your safety and well being. Good to hear Dave, that you met some interesting people from DONCASTER!! Don’t know what J. Parkin would make of that comment.
Lots of love to you both.xx

  2. I’m sure there are some interesting people in Doncaster! Hope the weather is kind to you tomorrow. The forecast looks good on Wednesday. Just taking a break from footie but it’s back on now. Proud of you both.
