The new church building, whilst not fully completed, was completed sufficiently to be opened & dedicated during December 2013. The Kachieng community had been without a church since the original construction was destroyed in a storm in April 2012. At the end of September the St Peter’s Church, Littleover Hiking Group completed the Swaledale Challenge to hike to the source of the River Swale & further to the Nine Standards Rigg at the top of the pennine range in North Yorkshire. The roof was completed on the 8th November 2013 using Cypress Tree timber & Risincott Maroon sheets which is the best quality in Kenya and should last many years. The church can now be used for Sunday services and further work on doors, windows & plasterwork to be carried out in the coming weeks. PASH
